I have a problem with my 99' M600 the speedo is reading way out ie. when i'm doing 30mph it reads 20mph, however it does not read just 10mph under at some points it reads 50mph when i'm doing 70mph, it's cable driven.

Any suggestions??

have you detached the cable and checked to see if it's broken?
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Yeah checked the cable it seems fine no cuts or tears etc, would it be the speedometer?

Buckethead

Have you tried turning it off and then turning it on again?

Yes?

Well, then, I'm afraid it's beyond my level of expertise.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Did you detach the cable? And external inspection won't tell you anything. There's a flexible drive shaft inside it.

Yeah I've pulled the cable out, cleaned it up and put it back in... No difference

Howie

If the odometer is working correctly the cable is good and the problem is in the head.

richard_22

Ok what could go wrong in the head? do you mean in the wheel?

Howie

No.  If the odometer is working correctly it means everything is good up to the speedometer the problem is in the speedometer.

richard_22

Ok yeah that makes sense, opening a can of worms but what could be wrong with the head??

It's busticated.

I hate to agree with Peggy, but, other than a loose needle you are pretty much out of luck.  You can try Googleing for someone who repairs speedometers in your area, Fleabay for a used unit or you could go for something like this  http://www.spieglerusa.com/gauges-instruments.html  and gain a tach or something more modern like something from these folks  http://www.koso.com.tw/
