hid projector questions

im thinking about making brackets to mount an HID projector i scavanged from a damaged automobile headlight unit(condensation) and i was wondering how people mount them exteriorly do they put them in a small box to keep water out? ive seen them mounted in a 7" headlight housing but thats not what i want to do, i want to have it just sitting outside, but i would prefer to keep it have an exposed look but be protected from the elements with a waterproof housing
