Look at the size of those side cases.

Interesting  the photo also shows crash bars and fog/driving lights to either side of the forks. Wonder if that photo's accurate to how they will roll off the assembly line.

And yay for the wind protection fix. The original screen, for me, was worse than nothing on the test rides. Its range of adjustment meant that I'd either get all that air right in the chin bar, causing horrible bobble head or just at the crown of my helmet making a god awfully loud wind boom noise.

Don't like the Ride by wire Raux? That's how one gets the fancy on the fly throttle map changes....

I don't see what the big deal is. Everything is already available in the aftermarket for the other Multis. They should have put a larger tank on it if they really wanted it to be a super-tourer.

Are folks making a big deal? If they are, yeah not really warranted since it's just an update to the current model.

But it does seem that Ducati pays attention to what mods the community does and comments on most and follows suit. For example the 620 to 695. Before it's mostly been a size bump from model to model - but there then went and blacked out the triples, rearsets etc like a lot of folks did or would talk about. Other model revisions seem to closely reflect what the flow of the community is.

"Yesterday, we broke the news that Ducati’s second-generation Testastretta 11° motor features a dual-spark configuration, and we got a bit of flak in the comments section of that article over that claim. Well, today Ducati has released the technical specifications of the 2013 Ducati Multistrada 1200 line, and the Italian company has confirmed a dual-spark setup in what it is now calling the Testastretta 11° DS engine.
The new Testastretta 11° DS engine is mostly the result of the ever-tightening emissions standards in Europe, though the 2013 Ducati Multistrada 1200 (along with the other bikes that will get the Testastretta 11° DS engine) benefits from a smoother power delivery, as well as increased mid-range power and torque. Accordingly, peak torque on the Multistrada 1200 goes from 87.5 lbs•ft to 91.8 lbs•ft for 2013. Zesty.
Ducati lists other engine technologies making their way from the Ducati 1199 Panigale and onto the revised Ducati Multistrada 1200, which our sources tell us includes an exhaust recirculation system that borrows heavily from the Panigale’s design.
Bologna has also confirmed that Sachs is providing the company with its semi-active suspension components, which are being marketed as the Ducati Skyhook Suspension package. Other changes to the 2013 Ducati Multistrada 1200 include LED marker lights, along with an updated ABS package that features the Bosch ABS 9ME anti-locking brakes system."

Greg(Don't think he's on here) and I were discussing this today.
Both of us are MTS1200S owners and both have the electronic Ohlins suspensions.
Neither of us have had issues and both theorize that it was a cost savings to switch to Sachs.

As for the rest of the stuff...looks like someone just got a hold of the accessories catalog and said, "Gimme one of each".
Larger pannier sides are available. Crash bars are available (MRA's version is a better quality steel and about $130 less than the DP ones). Light mounts look identical to the MRA units I bought. I went HID lights instead of LEDs though. Would rather have 2 miles of light vs the LED's ooo farkle effect.
Windshield...WAY better options available than the DP touring screen. And they are about $30-$50 cheaper.
Long distance tires huh? Because they look a LOT like the Scorpion Trails that came on mine from the factory. They were shagged right around 5000 miles of semi aggressive riding.

The part I like the most is the midrange bump and the torque increase. Not that the bike really needs it.
I like the fly by wire throttle in my car. I can see it being smoother than the current system.
Sort of mixed about the brakes. The current abs system works pretty damn awesome. I would use monobloc calipers vs the 2 piece calipers they are now and will be using with the Bosch system.

What they should have done is fixed the one major suspension complaint I hear the most...stiffer springs. Even in touring, the springs are too soft. Even fiddling with the pre-load, compression and rebound settings...still too soft. Maybe the Sachs system is stiffer where it needs to be.

Ultimately, I will be curious to see if the premium of the GT will be comparable to buying just the standard S Touring and then buying your own farkles.
