Jacket fit ... riding up

I have two jackets; and First Gear Scout (leather) and a waterproof textile Fieldsheer.  Both ride up so the shoulders are "pooched" (they would flap if not for the armor) and the back jams up on my helmet making it hard to turn my head.  They are snug around my torso ... which is more of a case than a 6-pack, but certainly not a keg!  [laugh]

What about the fit is causing the problem?  Are they too long in the sleeves, torso or both?

The fit is obviously wrong for you.  I have a Revit, Icon, and Joe Rocket jackets and none of them ride up like you describe.  Try on on some different brands.  Icon and Joe Rocket are definitely cut fuller than the Euro makers.  Also, I ALWAYS buy one size larger than the sizing charts indicate for my size.  That could be the key to my success.

different strokes for different folks. i personally like double dutching it but its your call. ;)

Seriously though. just try a differnt brand. american brands tend to have generous cuts. Scorpion is a bit more race and revit its really race fit. they fit the best. but they are often short in the torso and i dont like that. 90% of the time i wear textile 3/4s unless its summer.

Ask Ducatiz, he was talking about the same problem and a fix in the crotch relief thread.......

Agreed with the sizing and cut not being correct the others have already written about, try on a euro brand like Dainese or alpine stars, which usually could be found locally. The jacket should fit snug with the better designed jackets (Dainese is my personal favorite) having snug fit with great mobility and comfort.

Also use the jacket to pants fastening device your jackets came with, ( I hope)  usually straps to loop thru your jeans belt loops or zipper to pants adapter.

Do something, because that jacket will be useless for road-rash protection if you fall off and slide feet first....

+1 on the US vs EU cut of gear.  I, too, enjoy the occasional brew and find my ICON Motorhead jacket fits 'much' better than my Teknic jacket, although the Teknic (but not the ICON) comes with a belt hook and jacket-to-pants zipper... :P

Thanks guys.  New jacket is on the list, and I'll start looking for something with a better fit.  If anybody knows a brand that comes in short sizes, I'd love to know about it.  (In suit jackets I wear a 46-Short ... all chest!  ;D )

go to a few local shops and try on everything. even if you dont like the style or color, the brand and its cut will help you decide.
IF you do order online, make sure the shop has a good return policy.

i have a teknic jacket that has a little strap that buttons around a belt loop or belt. very handy.

I wear a 46 reg or 44 long suit coat. I wear a 56 in most all euro fit jackets, sometimes a 54 if it is a loose cut style or if the 56 has a liner that is removeable, I usually don't use the liners and mostly ride in summer. Most Italian manufacturers will make the sizes, 56 sometimes, 58, 60, a bit fuller cut. A Dainese store employee told me these sizes are considered to be for their "bigger customers", euro bigger that is.
I wear Dainese brand gear and have tried a lot of there gear over the years and can confidently order a size 56 on-line and know it will fit.
