What are the Road Racing Italia aluminum tanks worth?

Is this the right spot for a "what's it worth" question?
Anyways, when I bought my 2001 m750 a year and a half ago, I completely scored and got it with a Road Racing tank (and i think the seat cowl to match). I am thinking of selling both my monster and my mts1100s, and using the funds to either get a new Evo, or possible an s4rs. I am trying to debate whether it would be worth my time to buy a new (used) tank for my monster, sell the bike, and then sell the road racing tank seperately, or if I should just sell the bike as is. Problem is, I have no idea what the tank is worth and haven't been able to find another one like it that has been sold.
I know the "what is it worth" question always ends with, "its worth what ever someone is willing to pay for it", but on this item, i dont want to short myself, but I don't want to ask some ridiculous price for it to where people think I'm a joke. Do you think an asking price of $2,000 for the tank and seat cowl is out of the question?
And no, I won't trade your awesome new plastic tank, for my old aluminum one, even if you pay shipping both ways

depending on condition...used RR tanks can be worth anywhere between $500 and $1500...YMMV

Considering a damaged tank on ebay is selling for $240 plus shipping there isn't much advantage for the OP in swapping by the time he pays to repair the replacement.

i got a steel tank that's in "good-enough" condition for a trade + cash. From my experience, when trading in a bike the value of accessories on the bike do not change what the dealership will offer.

I sold a perfect one in 2008 for $1000. (Pure aluminum finish w/o the ram-air ducts)
I'd try to find a member here w/a perfect used one that wants to pay a little $ & upgrade thier bike.

I could probably be talked into that sort of thing. Pristine matching tank & seat cowl (maybe even the belly pan) -- red with white corsa stripe, 70's era lettering on tank-side, aluminum seat badge from 70's ducati on end of seat cowl. in storage I even have the old school 98-99 front fairing with brackets painted to match.
But to motivate me that much, it would only if your tank is in tip-top condition.
but again, if you try to trade it with fancy tank on it, or sell it with fancy tank on it, you'll not get as much as if you part it out and replace with a fair tank. The problem here is that the carbd 750 just ain't worth much, regardless of what's been done to it.
