SOOO before I hijacked He Man's thread too much, I've decided to start a new one

I did a bit of research and found the 848/1098/1198 shock is the same length as the 696/796/1100 shock.
there are a few differences, but they are closer than I thought

Travel: 60mm vs 58.5mm sbk vs monster

Spring: 80n/m vs 115 n/m  sbk vs monster

Piston: 36mm vs 46mm sbk vs monster

What does the piston difference mean in real world use?

If I swap the springs would the shock work?

or would the 80n/m with the 36mm piston result is similar characteristics of the 115n/m spring with 46mm piston?

This is all assuming the housing of the horizontal reservoir doesn't hit the swingarm or subframe.

That's a TTX shock, it's got a totally different damping arrangement, a twin-tube design with smaller piston.

Very nice hardware, but I doubt it would fit.

the damping profile would probably be wrong, but the actual shock itself is just a component to be built.  talk to a good suspension shop, they should be able to tell you if the showa is a better base point and what they can do with it.

Take a look at one, IMO the reservoir would foul on all sorts of stuff.
