As some of you know I bought Melvins 2005 S2R 800. You also know its a bloody beautiful machine! Knowing it came from Rob is a bonus. I went to see it 2 weekends in a row before I bought it. The passion he had talking about the bike was incredible I almost feel guilty owning it. He was glad to sell it to me because I wasnt some punk that was going to thrash the hoohaa out of it. I feel in love when I first saw it  drool. Like Rob i feel nothing on the bike can half arsed.

Ever since I started on my 600 I've always wanted a tangerine 800. I do miss my 600.

I put a lot of effort into making it mine. Many of my plans went ahead while others weren't worth doing. Thats what the 800 is for  waytogo

While I was searching for my next bike I had two options. Start with a fresh bike and make it mine slowly or go with a well modded bike saving some dosh. Having chosen the 2nd option makes it a lil more difficult to make the bike 'mine' & to some Ozmo's it never will be which is fine. Most mods Rob has done are to my taste and I greatly appreciate them. The smart and preferable option would be to start clean but of course mods aint cheap. On the other hand it'll take a long time before I can feel like the 800 is 'mine'.

The existing mods are:
- Termignoni exhaust with Marving mid-pipe
- Rapidbike fully programmable module governing air/fuel ratio
- Ohlins suspension front and back
- Cyclecat top triple clamp with clip-ons
- Kellerman LED front and rear indicators in satin black with white lenses
- Rizoma: invidia mirrors, grips and bar-ends, front sprocket cover, brake & clutch reservoirs, oil filter plug
- Sato Racing rear sets
- Sargent carbon fx seat
- Riding House mesh belt covers, oil cooler billet alluminium cover
- CRG 6way on-the-fly adjustable brake & clutch levers
- Oberon billet aluminum rego sticker holder
- STM billet aluminum frame plugs
- Ducati Performance bellypan
- carbon mods from crabonworld.de: front chain guard, rear chain guard, exhaust shield, rear hugger, side panels open air box with K&N filter
- Supersprox Stealth sprocket with D.I.D. 520ERV3 light-weight racing chain (42 tooth rear & 14 front) how amazing are these!

When applying mods I always think less is more. I try to make things simpler and cleaner. Using necessary stock parts that have purpose and removing or hiding anything that doesnt

Future mods:
- CRG bar end hindsight mirrors.
- Sticker removal
- Frame and front wheel sliders
- Blacken anything thats silver & stands out
- Tail chop tail chop. Install buell blast tail light & removal of existing lic plate light.
- Remove side heat shields & rear hugger
- Adjust rear suspension lower
- I bought a motogadget tiny years ago. Time to try it out
- purchase as many stock parts as possible

I know what it is to buy a bike of a fellow OzMo, though when I picked mine up it was a clean mostly un-touched aside from a killer exhaust and ecu plus some small items of bling to complement this natural born licence eater.

IMHO, as I've said already you should certainly drop the rear on your bike. It will make it much less twitchy at speed when cornering.
I'm sure it feels great at low speed around town, it'll turn and point very quickly but it gets very nervous when at open road speed. I know cause I have ridden it a couple of times.

Then whip that Flywheels sticker off (if you haven't already) the shop is gone now and last I knew when they were open they didn't have a decent Ducati mechanic left.

You know Cycle Cat are now back in production so I'd go looking for a lower triple to match that nice top end it has.
I'd black put that oil cooler hanging out front to make it blend a little more. And if those crappy Michelin Pilot Pures are still on it, rip'em off and get some Conti Sport Attack's on it. It'll transform the bike no end.

Thanks Matty, I know what you mean about cornering at speed. I'm glad it's a quick fix. Long fast corners don't feel so good

I started with the belly pan stickers yesterday but a clear coat over the top made things a little difficult. nothing a blade and sandpaper can't fix

I'm not sure if I like the cycle cat triple, too blingy IMO. I prefer a subtle look. I'll keep searching

Now I'm just looking forward to bringing it to Dmoto. Major service is gonna kill me but I'll glad to know its had a good look over
The fuel light comes on after 5L of fuel have been used. There's another 11L of fuel there. I replaced the sender unit on my last bike, maybe it's the same thing?

I called flywheels and apparently they're moving to Glebe. Meh I'll just stick with Dmoto.

You can save a buch of dollars doing some of the major service yourself  waytogo
Oil and filter
Flush the brake and clutch lines
Check every bolt , lubricate , grease etc
Replace the fuel filter
Clean and lubricate the drive train
All easy stuff you can do yourself or with the help of a mate.
All of this adds up to close to half of the labour cost  Shocked

If your quick RobS doesn't have a bike and has weekends free at the moment  laughingdp
Paul seems a little busy with Brians stable of bikes so he is out. Grin

Belts valve clearances and trimming up the fuel /air tuning ....leave to D-Moto should only be $5-600

Well done on the purchase and the plans to make it your own.

Three Robs have now sold their Monsters through the forum and the new owners are all still active. Nice to keep it in the family.

Half the labour cost sounds good to me
When it comes to filters I only know of frasers. New parts - frasers. used parts ebay or metropolitan spares, anything else i'll go to the MCAS or monsterparts.com
Are there any stores I dont know about?

hehe nah thats alright. i like to tinker around myself anyways and thanks to Wells for the S2R pdf manual  waytogo

yeah yeah I know. I'm Mr contradict. Bling is ok if its blllaack  cheeky
