It actually makes a helluva lot of sense.

You can get about30 gallons of oil per acre of corn.... 100 000 per acre for algae.

Microbes are definitely the way to go.

Oh, and don't forget - you can also use them to BIND CO2.

it is pretty amazing to thing that yeast does so many things now...

- makes beer
- makes bread
- makes gasoline

Sounds like the basis of a Armageddon-style sci-fi movie.  It has the perfect combination of being the key to saving all humanity and toying with mother nature in some subtle, but horribly catastrophic way.  [popcorn]

What is the deal with the year 2010?  It is turning out to be the tipping point year for the environment -  MB and GM come out with their electric cars, Shell oil is supposed to announce whether they will be refining shale oil, and now this - the basis of our future zombification.
