It is nice that:

  • The 1100 EVO Service Manual does not talk at all about belt tension adjustment.
  • All the links around show the adjustment (and change) done with bare engine pulled off.

From what I can see, working on the vertical cylinder looks like hell, even if (and it has to) the exhaust header is pulled.
I think I will have to post a warning sign like "Warning: Profanity Zone" out of my garage, when I tackle this one  8)
On a related topic, this is likely known, but it contains (though in Italian  ;D ) a lot of nice information:

Hows the timing belt replacement going?  I am dreading doing this maintanence!

It's not due yet in my bike, I was just pre-fetching knowledge  ;D
Certainly is going to be quite more involved than the usual video where they have the bare engine alone on a table to work with.
Unless you have baby doll hands which can easily fit into the space left from the frame in front of the vertical cylinder belt.

Yeah I was thinking the same after looking at it! I just don't want to pay the shop $300 plus the cost of the belt to change them. I've tried to look for a Manual but can't seem to find one for our exact model. Do u have one? I was wondering if it has a step by step on how to change the belts.

My buddy has the hypermotard 1100 evo and he says the belt change is a simple job so hoping to have the same luck when I tackle this job next summer.

It would be great if someone out there posts a how to with this process of how to change the belt to include the correct tension setting.... I've seen the music tuner to adjust the tension as well as fitting an Allen wrench between the belt.

Anyone out there try to Tackle this yet on the m1100 evo?

the procedure is the same as on any other 2v. Getting to the belt covers like everything else on those new monsters well. The manual usually has a listing of what to remove when to get to what.

You might be able to take the tank off and slide the vertical cover off by lifting it upwards. That is how its done on the older monsters. However, its a lot easier to remove the tank on the older monster than the new.
