2007 M695

« on: November 05, 2012, 06:22:29 PM »

I tried to do a search for this...

Just curious if the current tear drop shape stock mirrors on the current monster will fit on my Monster 695.  I am ok with the Micky Mouse ears.  I wasn't a fan of the CRG bar end mirrors.  I like the look of the current mirrors and would consider mounting them on the 695 if it is an easy swap.

anyone try this? is it even possible?

thanks.

The new mirrors are 8mm mounts.
Your bike has 10mm mounts.

You'll need 10 to 8mm adapters OR new-bike mirror mounts.

If you look for adapters - remember that one is reverse threaded.

New monster mirrors are junk anyway, they work loose under wind pressure.

But until they do, the view of your own elbows is a very stable one, so there's that  laughingdp waytogo.

the thread size is smaller, but you don't have to use the bolts.
but you also could just grab the bar mount from the new bike as well with the correct size

i'm not sure if the old mounts are reverse threaded or not.

^^ What this guy said. ^^

The glass in my stock mirrors shook bad and it made it hard to focus on anything with them. recommend looking for a set of aftermarket mirrors you like.

I haven't noticed any issues with the factory mirrors on my 2012 796.  I also have 12K miles on it and ride 100 miles a day, with 40 of them being ~90mph.  Maybe some Loctite on the threads?
