Does anyone know if, by chance, the harness on any of the early speedo-only carby models already has the wiring to install the dual-gauge cluster from the later carby models that came OEM with the electronic tach?

TIA

I bought a DP tach cluster off of eBay a while back for.my 1997 M900. It came with the bucket, faceplate, tach, and tach patch over cable. The only thing I reused was the speedometer assembly.

Thanks for the idea, I found an online instruction for the install of the DP tach and it seems the lead back to the coil had to be added (part of the patch over cable?) so I guess the older bike was NOT wired for the tach.

Thanks very much for your information!

no it doesn't have the tach wire pre-wired...

You have to tap into the coil (negative) to get the tach reading.  I have done this when I switched out to the Danmoto gauge on mine M750.

But to be honest...I won't do it in the first place if I knew ahead of time that when they didn't put a tach on the model, which meant you don't really need the tach to begin with...

This mod was just me trying to know more and look...  Grin

And FYI to anyone buying the DP gauges: they all seem to fail pretty quickly. I had one on my Pongo build and it only lasted a few months. Sad

My Q had to do with 'marketing' my '01 OEM dual-gauge cluster take-off which was working fine when removed at 98XX miles  Wink
