Temporarily anyway -

About three years ago my office got broken into - lost lots of stuff, computers, printers, etc. AND my helmet, jacket, backpack, gloves......

Yesterday on I-5 - all my moto stuff went riding by - splitting lanes one and two.....
Traffic was crawling so no chance of catching up to the rider.

I know it was my stuff 'cause the jacket was distinctive - and the helmet was "correct", too (not sure if they were my A-Star gloves.

Whodahthunkit???

It's a mean taunt to see your stuff so close yet out of reach like that.  I had some advice about a similar instance several years ago when I had a car stolen with a bunch of cool stuff I had in it: don't jump to conclusions that that person was the one who stole it.  It's possible, but equally possible they bought it on Craigslist from the guys responsible.  Still throws a nasty twist in your stomach though, I'm sure.  Never gave me any comfort, just something I think about sometimes.

i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.

After 3 years?  I doubt it.  I bought a surfboard on e-bay a few years ago, seller met me halfway between where she lived and my house.  No way I'd still have any info on her...

the info i am talking about is identifying your gear, the bike and plate that has it

follow them see where they go

report to police info gathered if you can confirm your gear by photos etc

I was assuming the guy who was wearing his gear might not be the guy who stole it.

Kind of a risk you take buying stuff used from private parties.  I've sold a couple motorcycles and a refrigerator on craigslist.  I've also bought a few things this way.  You assume the seller is on the up and up but you never know.

I figured the stuff would be at a swap meet or Craislist - but never looked.

Chance of ever seeing it again - almost nil -

I was amazed to see the lane splitter go past me
with my gear on -

That's the problem though.  You are now advocating assault with a deadly weapon against someone who may have no idea that the gear was stolen.

Tongue Yeah, I know you were just kidding but still... not cool.

I had a vintage Motobecane road racing bicycle stolen from me in the early 90s.  It still burns me to think of what happened to my bike.

I doubt you have any substantial evidence those specific items belonged to you. There is still little you can do about it, my advice move on.

I moved on three years ago......

The only reason for posting was the oddity of seeing the items (I know were once mine) go by me on the freeway
