hi! ok, first the ignition key was normal, a couple of months ago, then, all of a sudden, the key when turned OFF wouldn't kill the engine, or lights, ALL of them, stop, headlight; now the stop light (taillight integrated LED) when turned to OFF it's normal, but still engine would not, neither headlight, turn off; I just fixed a little short on the taillight, and that appears to have fixed the ON/OFF problem in that area, assuming the obvios... would a short in the wiring to the headlight be causing the same ON/OFF disfunction ? Any clues? thank you! oh, when turned ON the key does activate pump etc... I kill engine with kick-stand switch now and then proceed to main fuse removal... yes all the time... and no, no damage to battery etc... thanks!

this weekend I am going to follow the whole cables and a connections, I suspect a short could be issue  [coffee] it's a 2002 620ie Monster!  [bow_down]

Turn key off.  Pull the main relay.  Does everything shut down now?  If so, check and see if there is power at terminal 85.  No power?  Replace relay.  Power?  Bad ignition switch or short between switch and relay.

howie, one question, where is the main relay?¿ I've heard so many tall tales about it!  [laugh] no, really, I really have a big sh·$ issue locating it, thank you!  [bang]

Under the seat by the battery.  There are two, one is the main relay the other is the fuel injection relay.  I don't remember which is which.
