15' from center to the steering locks.  25' max lean angle.  NO front brake.  NO exhaust muffling of any kind.

If'n ya want to...  I'll be in El Mirage in May...

So, if I'm reading that right, you're saying "Sure Big, you can borrow it to ride to Zeitgeist sometime, after all - how much damage could you do to an Australian driving license in California!"

big (August you say??? When in August?)

Why?

You need that flywheel lightened up?

I'll have to get a different flywheel to lighten. The 749R has the flywheel with the 2nd set of timing pick-ups on it. (Rare...)

wouldnt you want the heavier flywheel? you're not shifting up and down for corners, etc.
I would think the heavy flywheel helps the momemtum build and stay wiith the higher RPMs and tq you need

August 10-16.

That's the SCTA Bonneville event.  The BUB (motorcycles ONLY) event is the week of August 26th.

I'm undecided on which I'll be doing in August as I can only afford 1 trip.

From what I've read (haven't done this before so no FHE), the lighter the engine internals and heavier the bike, the better off you are.

So were you serious about filling the swingarm with lead?

I get that at high speeds most of your power goes into overcoming aerodynamic resistance, not rolling resistance, but I'm having a tough time wrapping my brain around the advantages of substantial extra weight - I'm looking forward to learning something new!

It's not at all uncommon to have wheelspin @ 100+mph...  Slippery surface that salt.

Raux

that's why i'm confused about the lightweight flywheel.
the smoother power of the heavier powertrain would seem to make sense for better traction

Speeddog

Bonneville and El Mirage are one of the few racing arenas where weight is usually your friend.

Ballast should be on the bike, though.

Lowest possible unsprung weight is always preferable.

Nice, Stu.   [thumbsup]

You involved in this lunacy, too, Speeddog?  Talk about right up your alley.
