Well, we are on the road. Will pick up coils in wendover. Apparently ls1s with fuel injection are not popular enough in Arizona for anyone to stock coils. [Roll]

Oh look... A rest stop in scenic Phoenix.

Somebody should have checked the torque on those trailer wheels...

We made it, but the coils I ordered are still in the warehouse until tomorrow...

The bike and racing part of it are looking better... But our tent had an attack of the wind.

Picked up coils at two, bike started making what sounded like running noises by 5.

Need to pull the (stainless) injectors and wash the rust (there is no mild steel in the fuel system) out so it will reliably run on two cylinders. Then to finish tech and make a few dyno pulls, then racing!

Rock on then!  chug

Welcome to the hair-pulling slugfest that is LSR racing.
It's a brutal grind.
And you're a second-class citizen 'cause you're on a bike.

I saw a rookie team that showed up with a brand new turboed nitro-burning twin Vincent powered streamliner bike with a rider that had never ever been in a streamliner or on the salt.
And expected to get a record first time out.
That package was a decade of work to get what they expected, not a show-up-and-bag-a-200 club-T-shirt-in-a-week.

Be methodical, take comprehensive notes, and drink lots of water.

I've got the water drinking part down... I've just been plagued by bad decisions or bad parts or a combination thereof...

Blew up the fancy LS2 coils because I picked the wrong side of some conflicting info on the interwebs. LuckLuy Mike Crawford (mayor of wendover, and owner of the only parts store in 150 miles) is a Corvette guy and while we were talking to him about what we were doing he mentioned he had some old coils off one of his vettes. Gave me a pair, I soldered the wires to the pins and it runs!

Went and passed tech, should be racing tomorrow. They've been pretty good about the radio/live stream this year.

Excellent!

I don't know who to attribute for the quote, but "if problems are a sign of progress, we're making a lot of progress!"

This bike has taught me more about coils than I ever thought I would need to know.
