...homologation specials (marketing) might be one way - although, for example, I don't know how well/poorly the Nicky Hayden Ducati sold.

the nicky duc wasn't a homologation special. he's referring more to the the ducati "r" or "rs" bikes, the kawasaki zx-rr, and yamaha yzf-r7 type models. those bikes are specifically built in adequate numbers to legalize configurations that are more desirable in race-trim than the sold-for-street-the-masses models.

Je comprends....aren't homologations produced in 'limited' numbers, like only 50 or 100 units?

2012 regulations were a minimum of 2000 units available to the general public by the end of the year.

no....and they haven't been for a while...they have been building "R" models for sale to privateer race teams as well as the general public for homologation for a long time....

At least half of that article is good news. Having CRT bikes being that far off the pace was ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as the prototype Ducs being that far off.

This type of investment is exactly what the marketing egg heads need to expand MotoGP in the US. I'm surprised that the factories are not pushing for even more races in the US, simply because it's the one market that everyone should be focused on while Europe continues to be a mess.
