Old gear: Icon TiMax mesh jacket and short gloves with Motorhead boots for my Indiana work commute of 4 miles. Then it turned into track days which required race leathers (M2R 2pc) which are brutal to wear in 98 degree heat. With the M2R's came A*'s GP Plus gloves and Oxtar boots. Now finally I live in Hilo and there are decent roads to ride I decided to get a proper jacket and pants. Icon Overlord stuff in impeccable to say the least. Most comfy gear I've owned. SportbikeTrackGear sold me on the jacket and pants with their review videos. My helmets went from Icon Motorhead to KBC VR-2 Stealth to Icon Airframe Dia de los Muertos

Just ordered up a Nexx XR1R helmet (carbon/kevlar) helmet
Supposed to be one of the lightest lids on the market.
I also liked all the comments ab out the great visibility that the large eye port gives
I noticed riding the 675 in the much more aggressive position...I had to really hold my head way back with the Scorpion EXO 1000...plus it's one of the heaviest helmets..

Keep an eye out at SportBikeTrackGear. Every now and then they blow out new Bell Star helmets for $250.

Yeah. I just checked their site. They've got several models of the Star priced at $299 right now. I picked up one just after Christmas at the same price. Only bad thing is, the one that I bought is the black with white stripe. They didn't think they'd ever offer the solid matte black helmet at the same price. Well, now they are.

What's the helmet shape on the Star?...long oval, inter oval, round?...

More intermediate oval. Their sized odd though, as you'll most likely want to go one size smaller than you'd think. I had a medium Corsair (and RF1000 before that) and had to go with a small star. One other thing, the Star doesn't have quite as well of a defined channel in the side pads for glasses, so keep that in mind. SBTG will normally allow you to exchange the helmet if the size doesn't fit right, but you island guys will probably have to cover shipping on the exchange.

I've wanted to get a new Star for some time now. Maybe this is the time?

I like the Star, but am afraid it wouldn't fit my head, the bit about no channel for glasses wouldn't work for me either...but it's a very nice lid...
I've been looking at the Shark Speed-R, but think that the integrated drop down sun visor makes it physically larger than I would like...I think it's 95 cm give or take around the circumference, while my Arai is 88 or so...

I wear glasses in my star all the time without problem.
It's an "okay" hat. It came with a white breath deflector that I had to take out and paint black to cut the reflection. The chin skirt kept falling out so I eventually had to remove it completely. It has massive airflow but it's also noisier because of it. The transitions visor is da bomb!
