Any gearbox wizards?

New problem! Hello again everyone. Well I finally got the electrical gremlin debugged.(Thanks to all those with the helpful hints). Now my 07 695 has developed a new quirk. I took it to Albuquerque last weekend(800miles round trip) and after about 90 of those I noticed the shifting getting more difficult. Well I got into the canyons and I down shifted to pass a car, got around them and then nothing, no more shifting. I was locked solid in third. I mean it wouldn't budge. I slowly road the next 30 miles to Salida were I had rented a Jeep from a local outfit last summer, and the guy was kind enough to let me borrow a maintience bay, and his tools. (BTW if anyone is ever looking to rent a Jeep in southern Colorado Anderson Motor Co., great people!) Anyhow sharp tap and it sprung back into place. Now is the problem though, as I near Alb. it starts missing shifts. Upshifts mostly, it misses the downshift sometimes but it misses the up shifts A LOT. Often it seems like the only way to get it to find the next gear is to shift back down and then up, this doesn't always work either though. Any thought's, anyone had this experience? BTW this bike is out of warrantee.

Does the lever move, or is it pretty much frozen in both directions when it's stuck in gear?

Certainly doesn't sound to good. I'd surely have it looked at by the Ducati Dealership where you got it or call Ducati of Seattle, they have been real good at helping me trouble shoot a few things. Nice folks those Service Techs at Duc of Seattle.

If I remember correctly, back on TOB there was a rash of problems with people having stuck gear levers.

Like it wouldn't come back up from being extended to the center position.

My guess (guess  ) is it could be a failing or misaligned claw at the shift drum.

or the gear position lever is misaligned with the spline screw, causing sticking.

I would get it to the dealer for warranty work ASAP, before you get stuck again

I experienced something like this once on a motor I rebuilt, I had apparently shimmed the shift drum a little too tightly, and as the motor heated up it would expand slightly and "jam" between the cases, caused a near complete failure to shift up or down unless I was reaching down and pulling up on the lever with my hand very hard or stepping on the shifter with all of my weight. Good luck.

I had similar problems with my 06 s2r800 twice.  Both times, it was the shift fork inside the trans.  The first time, it was shifting from 4th directly to 6th, skipping 5th, or it would hit a false neutral.  the second time, it was shifting from 3rd directly to 1st, or hit nutral.

THanks for the replies guys, it'll give me a place to start. It only stuck the once, now it just isn't wanting to grab the next gear, I suspected the shift fork. We shall see.

Huh?? Should be a 2 year warranty unlimited mileage. I would recheck this...
