 I came a cross a hurricane flood bike CB550f.
the motor is siezed and it has 42,000 miles on it. i took the plugs out and the cyl walls were not rusted at all.  the transmission shifts fine. im wondering if its just the rings that are stuck onto the cyl wall.

the guy is asking 500, but he seems to not care, i was going to offer him $200 For it, dump sea foam into the cylinders for a few weeks change the oil and see if i can get the cylinders to move.

do you guys think its worth it?

worst case, i think i can seel the clean titled frame for $100 and the tank for $50 and the clubmans for $50 and recoup my money.

Crankcase could be full of liquid, hydraulic locked, not allowing the motor to spin.

Pull the drain plug and see what happens, if he'll let you.

Ill ask, but thats gonna be unlikely. There is apparently an oil leak on the bottom, so if the oil is leaking, i feel like the water would of leaked out by now. Although, the oil on the case isnt showing up on the floor, and it is the bikes permanent spot. It may just be road grime mixed with water (it recently rained, its parked on the sidewalk) he said he tried to the kick the motor over a few months ago, and it was stuck, so it just sat there. The best i can do is pull the dip stick and see what i have in there. If its indeed full of water, it would come out the dip stick since is physically lower than the oil+water level, if its leaked and leveled out, it would be oil/water mix, but most of the water mix would of already lkead out since oil sits on top

Unless I was either in love or hell bent on a project I would let that one pass.

i am neither. I just plan on replacing a lot. so at $200, the frame and motor is worth it, if salvageable. The frame is clean titled.

I've got all the time in the world to wait for one, but i have the space to hold a bike until i have time to really work on it.

but if a motor is so far beyond repair, it would be cheaper to pay more for a working motor and throw the headaches out.

Most of my bikes were Honda's before I went Italian, take Howie's advise. You could manifest a better one out in the world that wasn't in a storm.  There's a lot of them out there that have less rust..

yea i threw the guy $100 offer and he never replied then derbyed it.

im in no real rush.

Ive been searching craigs list for various bikes and have come across a 360T and a yammie XJ550.

Im only looking to spend $500 max.

So, buy it for $200, store it and spend your time tearing it down, advertising, packing, and shipping to get your $200 back.

And end up with a bunch of parts you can't sell, and have to throw away, or deal with Craigslist boneheads to sell for next to nothing.

Makes perfect sense to me.

who are you to say what makes sense? i didnt hear you object when i ask for suggestions of throwing in an 1100evo motor into my bike. it was the worst idea ever. i should of chuck that thing off a cliff when i had the chance to.

i offered the guy $100 not $200 cause i can get $50 bucks for the scrap metal and $100 bucks for a clean title. btw thats how much titles are worth in nyc. worst comes to worst. i lose $50 bucks. big whoop.

So, you're blaming me for your decision to put the 1100 motor in your bike?
