Welcome, sorry for the late response been busy. I love my ducs and my M900 is my favorite, it started out as a dark BTW. But, I also love my XR1200 almost as much, have the race suspension on it a Bday present from some of the guys, and a few other bits, Orange/black of course.
Also publically let me tell you there are no roads around here you have to go to far off places and you should tell all your friends the same. Now if we ever get a chance to meet up I might know a few roads I can share with you. I just moved out of Reston, it's been taken over by greedy developers and politicians who don't care about quality of life, out to Chantilly. I now have a garage with a house attached, so we are about 15-20 mins from each other and myabe we can go for a ride soon, show you some routes to DucPOnd for example.
Can't say enough about DucPond other than it is a shame they have to change their name(for a better corporate image - BS) great shop, great place to visit, great owners. In fact they are currently transforming my recently acquired SS900 into a track weapon for up coming track days at Barber with USDESMO and VIR with MAD/Cornerspeed. Sorry for the long post but again welcome gerat bunch of guys on here for the most part and lots of knowledge to share. - Gene
P.S. Like my Vics too, the 04' Vic with 81K+ miles just took 3rd place at a bike show in Daytona judged by Arlen and Corey Ness beaten by a custom dealer's bike, 1st Place and the snd place bike was a new Cross Country with low miles.

how would you compare your 1200 to the m900? just out of curiousity
For some reason I'm more likely to mis-behave on the XR on public streets, which make no sense since the M900 is way better suited to handle such antics. But then I'm still learning to ride
