So, after doing the tail chop finally, I was taking a look over the rear of my S4. The cf rear hugger that came with the bike never really sat well with me from day one, and I decided to inspect.  The mount bolts never were screwed in all the way and it just looked funny to me. Anyway, long story short, I go to remount the thing, and it just plain doesn't fit correctly. Luckily, I have my old cf hugger and dust it off and try it out.  Fits/mounts up clean as a whistle. I figure I have the right one on there now,  but my question is which model of monster did this piece originally come on/fit?  The ProItalia parts finder only brings up Ducati OEM Tail.

Seems I spoke too soon. I mis-keyed the part number in. Apparently it's for an '01 S4. I wouldn't have thought there was that much difference between the swingarms.  Anyone need a cf rear hugger?

According to Ducati, both '01 and '02 S4 take the same swingarm, 370.1.028.1A.
And the same fender, 565.1.025.1A.

Even though that fender has the same part#, it is definitely not the OEM S4, it's more like the fenders for the hoop-swingarm Monsters.

Which is really odd.....

the "hooped" style huggers only have 3 mounting points. 12 o'clock, 3 & 9.  That hugger in the picture shows 4 mounting points.

That is the exact hugger that came on my '02 S4.

Same mounting points and all

Interesting commentary so far. Took some updated pictures for the sake of discussion.

So here's the label from my "old" hugger.

A comparison shot, "old" in back, "new" in front.

A rough size comparison

Two different suppliers to Ducati, or is my original hugger an aftermarket piece?

I'm going with the 'two different suppliers'.

Mine is the 'old' style, with the 'framed' edge, not the flared lip.

I bought my '02 S4 brand new from the dealer, so chances are very very good it came from Italy with that fender.

But I wouldn't be surprised at all that some came with the flared lip style from the factory, like lazylightnin's.

I don't recall seeing any S4's with the flared lip style, but..... it's not something that would have definitely registered.
I would have likely thought "Oh, DP replacement for a fubared OEM unit."

Hold up...

I didn't even notice the flared lip in the pictures until Speeddog said something

Mine definitely has the framed lip and is much more closely associated with your "old" hugger Trick

Sorry for the misinformation guys
