i asked a friend who is highway patrol, he said there was a state task force down there over the weekend.  so not realistic locals.  he was mostly doing seat belts and mobile phones in cowes.

he said he hasn't been made aware of specific policy to target the open clutch covers, but would put it under the "if it's very open, it's an issue" thing.

Even though I like to hate on cops and the law in general (ask hbliam) I'm having a hard time believing this story is legit. Ive never heard of anything so asinine.

i can believe it, i've heard of it, and while yes, i absolutely make the beast with two backsing DETEST traffic cops (if you're one and reading this get over it, it's not like you didn't know everyone hates your guts when you signed up) it's mainly the fact that most govt.s are going broke and see road tax as an easy way to boost revenue under the guise of moral superiority. I say "moral superiority" not safety because safety has nothing to do with their motives, if it did i'd support it........... a little bit.

Yes, i'm cynical, what's your point?

I do believe I've ..um... had a roadside meeting with your mate  ;).  He's a good bloke, still though I cant really accept that the roadworthy status of an open clutch cover depends on the opinion of the Official at the time.  There has to be a written definition doesnt there??

Thanks brad black, Betty, Wells, OzzyRob, koko64, 1.21GW and Two dogs for your input  [thumbsup].
