2002 M750 dark. 10k miles.
i was wondering if my timing is correct and all the marks correspond to one another ?

vertical cylinder: (ignore the YELLOW mark)

horizontal cylinder:

both cam marks are lined up with the marks on the belt and the crankshaft is lined up with the mark on the engine case.
i looked through that little window on the left side of the bike and i dont know if something has to be lined up there as well . as you can see that little ``pointy`` (idk the name) is between the
marks. please let me know. thank you

It's close enough for the Italians and the federal government.  There are power gains to be had by optimizing the cams, but this often involves dyno time and hourly shop rate.

Brad Black has some good write-ups on degreeing the cams on a 2v.  I don't actually know where my pointer is on the left side when the cam gears are lined up like yours.  It's telling you something, but whether that something is relevant or true, I have no idea.  I check for TDC through the spark plug holes, I check for ignition stroke by cam position... I'm probably wrong, but I check mine with the belts still on, too. :P

I've noticed that the tick on the pointer can actually be moved a bit without moving the timing marks on the belt rollers. Don't know if this is just on me machine S2R1k. I don't use an engine turning tool when I'm doing my belts or valves. I just spin the rear wheel in a high gear with the plugs out.
