Where to mount USB Power socket
«
on:
April 01, 2013, 08:38:13 AM »
Any of you guys have USB power socket (USB or cigarette powerlet) on your bike to power your GPS or phone?
I bought USB power socket from burnsmoto, plan to mount it on the handlebar to power/charge my iphone which will be mounted on a RAM mount and will be used as a GPS. But I'm not sure where to mount the power socket. Can you guys give me some idea?
thanks in advance,

why not do a handlebar mount right next to where the RAM mount is going to go?

Thanks zooom... Ya I considered and tried placing it there, but I'm looking for a cleaner look and placement. Some place where it's slightly hidden.

do you have stock bars or clipons?
I run clipons, the stock riser holes on the triple, with the bushing pressed out, is the perfect size. With the black cap and my black ano top triple, can't even see it. wires run with the rest of the wiring loom along the inside the frame tubes.

to piggyback on Raux's idea...I saw one guy who when he went to clip-on's, he modified the top triple clamp as a place for his voltmeter and 12V cigarette lighter socket on his older 99 M900 ratbike with heated grips and other stuff...I think if you wanted to be really stealthy and creative, perhaps that might be a way to do it, or to make a mounting plate from the triple for the plug?
if you REALLY wanted to be swanky and hide it, perhaps taking off the top triple, drilling out from the top of it, the hole you would plug into and mount it underneath....just a thought...

I think Anchorism runs two of them in the holes.
