Rear tire install quotes

It's about time to replace the rear tire so I called several local shops for prices. I asked for an install on the bike price and off the bike price. I figured that shops charge a premium when people bring the bike to the shop, but I was still shocked to be quoted $76. Kinda ridiculous imo and that's one of the reasons I have a rear stand.

sometimes that is where they make up the bread and butter from when they aren't selling you the tire...small important distinction there.

I understand and kinda agree if I brought in my own tire, but the $76 quote was with me purchasing one of their tires.

Thanks for the info, but I'll probably take bike to Cyclemax since it's located about 10 mins from work and there OTD prices are reasonable.

Going forward, I'd gladly contribute to the CAM No-Mar fund if the logistics could be worked out.

Cross Roads will do a mount and balance for $35 - with the wheel off the bike.
And yeah -the Balmer crew have a No-mar. So make nice with them.

I wouldn't recommend race compound tires on the street, especially used-up ones. YMMV.

I paid $20 each tire, off the bike at Brooks Cycle Center in Chantilly.

Yeah I took my front tires to Crossroads Cycle in Falls church and man... They initially quoted $40 for the installation of rear but i ended up paying $45.
To be honest, I'd rather had done the tire change myself... BY HAND.

Anything around $30-40. no more. Is a deal imo.

I brought my wheels and 2 tires to Cycles of Silver Spring. 56$ to put on the tires and balance them. They will unmount / mount the wheels on the bike for an additional charge.
