NOW WHAT
«

I posted earlier that my bike was stolen and due to how it was stolen I'm doubting I'm going see it again. I've talked with the insurance company and will probably get about 4K so now I've got to consider what to get next.
That was my first Ducati and I LOVED that bike. I had it about 20 months and put about 20K on it. I don't want 4 valve because of maintenance costs. The new monster style isn't really up my alley. I'm honestly hesitant to get another monster because I don't know if I'll get the same thrill as my first one. So I'm considering a 2V Hypermotard. I'm sort of open to another brand but what stirs the soul like a Duc?
Any thoughts?

i know this is cause for damnation. but what about a street triple or speed triple? The street triple in particular gets rave reviews. In fact my friend is coming in from Canada this weekend to test ride one (he cant find a dealer near him that will allow test rides).
just a thought...
of course if you stay with Ducati, what about an S2R800 or 1000? both beautiful looking bikes!!

Get another M900ie or M1000DS.
I have ridden a Steet triple and was quite bored unless caning it. Great bike but not as much fun as a big Ducati twin imo. The Monster is fun to ride whether street riding, cruising or caning it.

There is this one,
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/mcy/3753113128.html
and it looks just like my old one. This one has more power, no dents and my odometer goes back 25K almost. Very seriously considering this.
I've heard the same about the Speed Triples but honestly, that front end is even uglier than a 2V Multistrada.

Nothing stirs the soul like a Ducati. I've tried. Just buy another Ducati.

Before I bought my Monster I shopped the Triumphs. I have had 4 cylinders and twins, so a triple made some sort of sense. The triples are high rev motors and if some degree of frantic appeals to you they are a good choice. A light weight torque laden bike won me after much soul searching and deep thought! While I loved my BMW R1100S, the Duck is all that the Beemer should have been.

This. Maybe you should try street triple or if you want another ducati, but don't want a monster, a street figter.

I wasn't sure if I wanted a new monster over the old style... I LOVE old Monsters. Turns out I love ALL monsters, I took the plunge on my 1100 EVO... and I am LOVING this bike. LOVING it. Far and away the best bike I have ever owned or ridden.

A local dealer raves about the SF 848.
He tore up the roads in Luxembourg with a group ride last year.

Went out and test rode a BMW 1200GS, smooth ride but big as hell.
No it's time to blaspheme, I took buddy's Sportster 1200 out. FUN AS HELL and oh so loud. The low end torque is unbelievable. I started throwing it into corners and grinding down his pegs for him. Going to keep looking at other things and watching out for a monster 900 i.e.

Steve being a local but OTP I feel your pain going to be hard to replace the bike. Not sure what kind dude you are
imo the Hyper seems like it would be a lot of fun. I've only ridden one that was a 1100s seemed like it was lacking in the power department but it was a rental so who knows what it went through. It was fun but didn't have the same boom boom pow that the S2R1k has.
