No gods and no masters

« on: April 27, 2013, 11:05:13 AM »

Discovered the one thing about my M750> 900ss engine upgrade that just plain sucks. My 750 had big, hard, metal dicks protecting the belts. WTF is this plastic BS? This is crap. What was Ducati thinking, allowing such a thing on such an otherwise gorgeous machine???

It's been talked about, but  can't seem to find any detail on modifying the old metal Pantah covers to fit. Some kind of mitre/"s" cut at the ends. Anyone have a clue? I can't live with this garbage on my bike.

Thanks...

Assuming you know how to paint, you could just paint the plastic covers some sort of chrome/metallic color of your liking and then it will look like metal.  Btw, the covers are there for a reason.  If the right size object, made out of the right material, gets wedged in a pully you could shred your belt...highly unlikely but possible.

I don't know if making the pantah belts fit would be worth your while.

you might also be interested in dipping the covers in dye, I did this on my 900 and they turned out great - if you stay with plastic covers.  There's a thread on here for the procedure.

The plastic belts have actually grown on me. I might take a dremel to them and put some kind of wire mesh behind em'.
