I just had my 15k service on my 08 S2R1K and I was going to get the suspension dialed in and the shop quoted me $210 to have it done.  That seemed high to me so I told them I'd think about it.  Is that reasonable or are they gouging me?

Did you talk to them about swapping out springs and oil or something? Basic suspension setup should be no more than $50 where they adjust your preload, rebound, etc.

I'm going to assume (maybe incorrectly) that the above price would include some parts, because that is ridiculously expensive just to tweak the stock suspension. Our local suspension guru in San Antonio will adjust stock suspension for a mere $20

Nope...standard adjustment with me on the bike.

$35 locally here. and sometimes he shows up at our local Cycle Gear and does it for free.

Wow! Ya, that's a bit much. The most I've paid for an adjustment was $40.  If there is a track nearby, you can drop by and have the suspension guys there help you out. :)

Triple J

$40 to have it adjusted for your weight is typical.

$210 would be for new seals on the forks or something like that. I'd make sure they weren't thinking you wanted the suspension refreshed or something. Just an adjustment literally takes 30 minutes (max...likely much quicker). I don't see how they could charge you that much with a straigh face after a few minutes work with you standing there.

Look up your local club racing org., and see who the local suspension guru is, and go see them.

Agreed with the above. Doing a baseline adjustment shouldn't be that expensive, unless there's much more to it. I know a shop that has an $80 (or so) price, but that includes a couple return visits for adjustments based on your feed back.

At over 200 I'd be thinking that's with a fork fresh-up or similar level of work.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.
