Shift points?

Guys.. just curious.  Where abouts are you shifting?  I just realized this weekend my m1100 seems a tad bit smoother when i shifter in a higher rpm range than i have been using. You guys might laugh me out of town, but ive been normallys shifting somewhere around 3.5 to 5k?  I know theres no hard rule.. just wondering where you guys, on average, do your shifts?

Around town in my M620, 5500rpm . .. spirited ride 7500rpm . .. every so often 10K . .

5500-6000 like clockwork for cruising. 7500 and up if I'm just flogging it.

On my 696 I try to keep it above 4k otherwise there is too much shake from the engine!! So my shift points are above that.

11,000 to 11,500 on the boil....around town, wherever the noise is lowest to avoid unwanted attention.  Ain't four-valvers great?

Wow, you've been short shifting the hell out of it. Give it some twist - just be ready there's a bunch of power you've never touched.

First off, if you aren't running a 14T front sprocket on a Ducati, you should.  On my S4RS twisting it on at anything from 4000 on, no matter what gear you're in, you will leave in a hurry.  4K is 62 mph in 6th. With the full Termi kit it's a stump puller. And if you can hang on, it makes power to just over 11K, but it gets really busy and that can land you in jail.  Ass me how I know.

Thanks for the feedback guys. This is the first time i started shifting between 6-8k. It definetly hauls ass, i Just wasnt sure I should have a v twin screaming like that. Feels great though

I paid attention to how I shift this morning on the way to the office. I think I shift between 4000-6000 rpm. Commuting in the city, I seldom pass 3rd gear.

same here.  I also did the 14t mod. makes riding in first gear.. bearable.

really? that 620 must buck like a bronco from 8700 (approx. where the rev limiter is) all the way up to 10k....

herm, she's weird she just goes and then tt t t t ttt shift and once I hit 4th gear is hard to get past 8500 .. .  this bike is weird . . .
