Chain too long or??

Long story short- back to 15 tooth front and up from 41 to 43 in rear. new chain is 106 and old was 104. laid old chain next to new and is 1 full link longer. Good right?I cannot get the new chain tight enough way too much slack. this should not be the case with 15 and 43. main question, does the eccentric only move from 180 to 270? I would think that it should have full 180 movement.

You should be using 104 links with that combo.

The axle position (15.5 mm from center)(="eccentric") is at ~6 o'clock with stock 15/41 104.

Your 14/41 brought it back ~4 mm.

From there to 15/43 104 is forward 12 mm.
Not sure, but might cause interference between wheel/swingarm and/or wheel hub and swingarm...

From 14/41 to 15/43 106 is ~4 mm back - which should be good.

Are you sure the wheel axle was at ~6 o'clock when you put the parts back together?

but dosn't going up two in the rear from stock require 2 more links??

No.  The stock chain will work 2 teeth up in the rear, 3 in the rear or i in the front require the addition of 2 links.  Stopintime's math is correct, you can use the 106, but  as the chain wears you might run out of adjustment.
