There is a nipple on the top of the bottom of the shock,  Ohlins said three way is in the future.  If they don't make a different shock or an upgrade I am still silly happy with the 737.  It rides so much better.  The front end still sucks.  I have an appointment with Dave Moss on the 20th hopefully he will be able to set it up right or change the front springs.

600.00 made a giant difference though.  I don't go to the track and try to shave a second,  I just shred my local mountains so the rear is as good as it can be as far as I am concerned ( ;

Not my intention to rain on anybody's parade here.... but just to give an alternative view....

IMO Ohlins DU-737 is not a fabulous thing.

Adequate, but not fabulous.

IMO Ohlins DU-737 is not a fabulous thing.

What are YOU running these days? (Merely curious; I'm retired. Cool)

After all, I DID say that it's no 3-way Ohlins... Wink However..., neither end of my bike steps out of line, both ends are balanced, never a wiggle over a bad transition while leaned over, no severe shocks from square-edged bumps, etc. I agree..., Ohlins-plush it ain't. But for $10K, I have a pretty good bike which does what I was after.

Now..., had I paid $20K..., I'd be ticked. Cool

Would suggest that Ohlins have no huge impetus to build a 3-way then. Wink

My guess, to make a plush Ohlins, you really need all the speed-sensitive internals my best Ohlins had. Maybe the remote reservoir is required for that? I suppose that might be possible with a different top collar. Hmmm...

I spy a new (well 5 miles on it they say) du737 on fleabay for $450. Hmm... got me thinking...

FWIW, that's the same spring on mine. I'm 175# plus gear but it works for my son too and he's a lot bigger/heavier. You need to get the preload tool with that box in the picture. Back off the damping one click.

I asked them what else is included in the box... No response yet. I'm 170lbs (and my 796 has lost nearly 30lbs) so you think that spring is the proper one? I noticed another du737 from an 1100s and it had the 1092-49/130 spring.  Is that the standard spring the 1100s came with when new?

They're a motorcycle dealer, so don't expect them to answer until Tuesday. That other spring must be for King Kong.Roll Eyes Stick with the 41/115. It works fine with the stock Marzocchi fork on your bike. You just need to set the sag correctly. Hopefully the damping is in the stock setting and you just need to back off one click. If this is your first rodeo, you might need some help. Mine was set up from new by my dealer who is a highly-regarded Ohlins tech. The preload alone should handle the slight difference between your bike/weight and mine.

If you need some help with this, call Ohlins in NC. They're friendly. Where are you? They can also recommend the nearest good Ohlins tech if necessary. The dealer selling that take-off may also have an Ohlins tech on staff.

Kyle racing sells the du737 for  about $150 more with custom spring and valving.

I ordered one for my 696, Im going to intall it  on my 1100 when I have my forks resprung.

Mine took a week to build at Ohlins in NC and UPS to VA. The one in the auction for $450 has the right spring for him though. Two years ago mine was ~ $600.

Just got back from infineon and letting Dave Moss tweak my bike.  Very nice riding machine I picked up ten mph in the canyons on the way home without feeling stressed!

You asked!  When I purchased the bike the suspension was "setup" for me at a small additional cost of $100.00.  The tech never did a thing with the rear preload and had the sag set at 10mm....  He then had the front spring preload set at maximum.  He told me Ducati had mushy springs in the front end and they could fix it for another $500.00 and one to three weeks in the shop.  Needless to say I hated the suspension it seemed "wrong".  Far be it from me to argue with a tech so I assumed it just came with crap suspension.  Hence buying the Ohlins for the rear and making an appointment with Nor-Cals top suspension guy Dave Moss.

I screwed up the dates and went to Dave's shop a day early.  Turned out he was at Infineon raceway in Sonoma so my buddy and I rode another half hour to the track.  It took him ten minutes to change my bike into a seriously nice handling machine.  Backed off the front and rear preload, explained the other adjustments and their effect and boom 40.00 late I am a happy camper.

Now on to what made me unhappy.  I just found out track days are on weekdays most of the time!  I could have done a half day on the track right then and there except my buddy had a deadline to be home and I could not screw him over so I had to leave the track while others were playing.  That was sad! 

The upside is knowing track days are weekdays!  I can play on weekdays, seldom on weekends.  It was very hard riding away while hearing bikes screaming away on the track ) :
