Crankcase ventilation: suggestions now that my air box is gone

Currently venting into a K&N filter. I don't particularly like this setup. After doing all the research on this subject, I would prefer the stock setup, however this is no longer possible.

Best way to vent the crankcase:

- something I've thought of: any benefit to finding a PCV valve for a car that fits, and routing it directly to the intake manifold? Obviously that would be tubing to route, but a much thinner tube, and looks like it would be easy enough to do.

- Routing an STM or something else with a built in filter, or leaving that be where it sits and venting to the atmosphere..?

Hey zooom, dumb question; would something like this require nothing else, just screw it on and ride?No additional filter, nothing?

generally...I would put a little K&N style filer on top of that and call it a day.

Theres a thread where I dynoed open airbox with breather hose to it Vs to atmosphere
I kept the breather/oil seperator box in the tests. Many run a little filter off that when venting to atmosphere.

Zoom: what rearsets are those? Never seen em before. And you didnt have an issue at the track during inspection over the crank case pod? If you go down oil will come out no?

Those are cycle cat rearsets. I have the same ones. Those look like the black annodize that turns purple after awhile.

I do the same as zoom. My bike has never had any oil come out the filter, and has passed scrutineering at Eastern creek with no problems. Remember there's a leaf valve under the filter, which limits any oil leakage, even if the bike is dropped.

Looks like I have the same thing as you zooom...is there basically what looks like a fine mesh under the filter? mine came with the used engine I bought but I think it's an oem part. If there's no advantage to something like an STM beyond eye candy I prob won't bother with one

no issues at Tech for the track....and the likelyhood of oil running out of that point would be the bike running upside down with more oil in the engine that what is supposed to be...otherwise...not so much!

the air goes both ways.

i'd put a little filter on the hose that used to run to the airbox at the airbox end.

well, i'd run the std airbox, but you're well past that.

The plastic OEM ones can be prone to leaking after awhile. On my S2R800 mine started to seep out even though it was all tightened down. I replaced it with a Nichols crankcase breather and it has been fine since.

When I got my Nichols breather, I used heater hose and run it up under the seat and stuck a cheap filter on it right before the tail light. The filter fell off because it's a V8 push in valve cover breather, so I bought another one. That one fell out too so I said hell with it. That was like 3 years ago and I've never had any trouble.

I didn't wanna paythe $$$ for the Nichols so I got this...hopefully it's an upgrade over stock. I think iot's a "Performance" part. The looks already are an upgrade.
