I like The Ben but he's dangerously close to following in The Hooper's footsteps. Roll Eyes

hopper wishes he'd had a fraction of the success ben has...

Lot's of talent and potential but fast becoming damaged goods. Would you want to sign him up to an extended contract for another year at this point in the season?

the possibility of ben being healthy next year vs what are your other rider prospects? who would you rather hire instead of healthy-ben?

Telling ya'. He should have listened to me and signed with a top flight WSBK team. laughingdp

Off the Mladin topic again (sorry Roll Eyes) but derby makes some good counter points to my rambling. waytogo And by the way it's Hopper not Hooper... my bad! bang head

Still like the idea of a healthy Spies kicking ass in WSBK. I'd eat more burgers at his Stackhouse restaurant if he did! bacon drool

Long and short, I think the Mladin story bullshit is just that. DMG desperate for some hopefully legit PR. Why would Mladin come back to this stink hole? Tongue

He's got the career ending Rossi shoulder.  Stick a fork in him.

rossi appears to be fine.

Not to take too much attention from my most favorite rider... Tongue

People seem to forget that in a world where hundredths and thousandths of seconds are a lifetime that Rossi is not on the same M1 he left Yamaha with which was tailored to him.

It's had 2 years of modification to better suit George.

The old fossil isn't done yet.

It was a bit in jest, but it may take Ben a year or so before he's normal again.

What's that say about Stoner hopping on the Honda built for Pedrosa and kicking ass on it straight away?

I guess I don't totally buy this argument. Not that he needs to be winning all the races, but the Yamaha is a good bike. A rider has to be able to adapt a little bit.

the 2007 RC212v was built for pedrosa, and it didn't work.  it wasn't until the 2nd half of 2010 that they got that bike figured out, so maybe it was dovi's bike by then.

they all adapt a little bit to the base characteristics of any bike.  but there's no denying that a bike gets developed a certain direction/toward a rider or riding style.  the M1 was developed toward JLo in 2011 and 2012.  just like 2004 - 20xx (debatable..) it was developed toward rossi.

Stoner doesn't count.

He's not 'right'. Wink

Ya, I know. But c'mon...that bike has always been Pedro's...they just fixed it since '07. Regardless though, it wasn't Stoner's. He started kicking ass the 1st practice day on it though. Of course, it probably felt like the best bike ever built after being on the Duc for so long!

I'm just not convinced Rossi still has it. If he wins a dry race that the others don't gift him with a crash-out or DNS due to injury, then I'll eat my words.  Grin I wish he'd get back to the front...I'd like to see him bang fairings with MM a few times (after they punt JLo off the track).  Grin

well.. it was definitely not pedro's in 2006.  when stoner was on a satellite version and got pole in his 2nd race.
