I came out to my bike this morning ready to ride down to the Royal Gorge from Denver and someone had backed into my bike, knocked it over, and THEN PICKED IT BACK UP and drove away.   boo  No witnesses and no note.

The handle bar smashed into the tank and destroyed the left side.  Thankfully I've got frame sliders and clip ons so that was the only damage.  However now I need a new tank.

I have a 2000 Monster 900Sie.  First year of fuel injection.  The dealer wants $2500 for a new tank.  I'm not certain the bike is even worth that.  I love my bike, and don't want to give it up, but I can't ride it like it is.  Anyone know what used Ducati tanks will fit my bike?  The dealer said only fuel injected tanks, but how do I know what tank is fuel injected and which ones aren't?  Is there a way to tell just by looking?

Buncha info on tanks here:

Post a pic of the tank damage, may be cheaper to just get yours fixed.

it looks bad but not too bad in the scheme of things

i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.

x2 this guy is the man.  You will get your tank back better than OEM because he can also do some hinge brazing and POR15 treatment for the inside of the tank.

+1 on DucPainter.....The man is a miracle worker and your tank will look like painted sex when he's done with it.

eBay tends to have tanks on the regular for the 900.
