Haul bikes has a very long time frame. I bought a bike out of Utah, for delivery to VA. I called them and they said it would be a month or more before I'd see the bike.

I went through a smaller scale independent who specializes in bikes through uship. Cost me less and took 8 days.

Keyboard has a special shipping frame = zero damage. My son uses them for all the collector stuff. 10 - 14 days typically. They book on Thursdays.

2010 696 w/ 4300 miles in your neck of the woods for $7500:

Have seen that one on CL.  Still curious about the 796 size (and not a fan of the red/red combo).  Because isn't it first and foremost about what's the prettiest?

Details on this? Why's a nearly new bike need a new brake?

Likely someone who rode in the dirt bought it and scared themselves. Hence sold it.

Stella needs one of these...... Dolph

Consensus from those more in the know than me (Carlos and the Randimus) is that the local 796 ("769") is not the bike to get.  Not that one any way due to some issues they could tell from some pics that I took.

There's another in KS that I sent an inquiry on.  May just have a bike before 2014....   Shocked

Good luck! I think you may be on the right track with a 796, coming from a 620. You'll LOVE the way the new Monsters handle. Keep us posted!

My 09' 696, the rear brake was defective, the rear pads squealed at those low miles, mine was replaced under warranty and it began to squeal also , so I replaced the pad with an aftermarket pad and it was fixed.

No comment about the price, since there it varies depending on location.

I got my 2012 796 new and have ridden it just about 25K miles already.  Love the thing.  As others have said, concerned about that rear brake needing replacement.  What does it mean?  The pads?  At 25K (commuting daily) I'm still on my original brakes front and rear.  I'll probably replace the rears next service.  Same with the tires.  My OEM pair lasted quite a long time....until I got a flat. Sad

You mentioned it has pipes.  Does it have an aftermarket ECU or air filter?  Flashed ECU?  With just pipes, the bike CAN act funny.  Not saying, it happens to everyone.  It's dependent on bike.  I have termi pipes only on mine and you'll get some popping/sputter.  I hear when you flash your ECU or get the DP ECU, it'll fix this.  I get a small amount of gas smell too.

You also mentioned the 600 mile break-in service only costing $200.  Where is this?  Not at the dealer.  Mine was nearly $400.  And the 7500 mile services (if nothing needs replacement) are over $700 at the dealer.  You're basically doing a mini-7500 mile service at the 600 mile mark.  I have found a somewhat local Italian bike mechanic to do my services for a LOT cheaper.  Going there this weekend actually for my 3rd 7500 mile service.

Does the one you're looking at have ABS?  It's a nice feature.

My first service , 600mi. also costed $150 which is just a quick check, clear maint. icon, chain adjustment here in California at a dealership.
