I replace my grips the other day on my '10 696. The old ones formed over the lip on the throttle tube closest to the controls. The new grips don't have this lip so now I have awkward white plastic between my right side controls and the grip. The grip fits fine and I have no complains aside from the unsightly tube. Did I miss something with the install? Should I just spray it black and deal with it? Order new throttle tubes?

The Spyder Peak grips that I recently installed have a groove for that ridge.

There was a ridge at the edge of the handlebar, closest to my pinky. I was able to get the grip over that. There is a significant lip though towards the thumb side of the throttle tube. Like 1/4" or so at least.

Ah, gotcha. Well, shite. I don't feel like buying new grips, as I like mine... I'm thinking a little black paint to at least hide the white/clear plastic (or make it not stand out as much) for now... Once I get new bars for it I'll look at something different.
