Hi folks,  Just wondering if anyone on the board has purchased and mounted up a Bitubo steering damper specifically to a 2013 M1100 Evo.  It seems I have run into another 2013 parts issue in that the kit sold for that bike does not quite fit that bike.  I spoke with Randy at Bellissi (nice guy) and we are out of ideas on how to fit the kit with the hardware provided.  The center mounting post is simply too short.

Has anyone here made one fit?  If so do you have a list of what I would need to make it fit?

Damn, guess it is going back.  Hopefully someday they will have one that fits.  In the meantime I am gonna step back my riding style as I nearly took a tank slapper coming out of a turn last weekend.  Funny how I took a scary hit right after I ordered the damper.

Does anyone have a damper on a 2013 Evo yet?

I am bummed.

Have you considered the frame mounted style?  Don't see how the 09+ version wouldn't fit the '13.  Also useful if you ever plan on going to clipons, or mixing up your riser/handlebar combo.

Hi Storm,  I hate the frame mounted versions.  In all honestly I even hate the top triple versions.  I had a Scott under the triple mount on my old Z1000.  Loved it big time and barely ever saw it.

The bear is that vendors think that 2013's are exactly like 2012's.  They have subtle differences that most folks are still discovering.

Some examples:  I ordered the following things to date that did not fit.
Steering damper: Nothing makes it fit right short of a cobbled together hardware store fix.
Front sprocket cover: Ducabike advertises the 2013 fitment however the Allen screws that come with the kit are too long, as are the stock screws.
Givi Tank bag:  Click lock ring did not fit 2013 Evo's.  They have since fixed it with a huge ugly bracket.
Aluminum sprocket nuts:  Not even a close fit.

IMO manufacturers and several dealers have not realized that the bike is not exactly like a 2012.  There are a few changes.  It fries my  bacon ordering stuff that does not fit.

On a side note, any recommendations for a frame mount steering damper for a 796?  The scotts wouldn't work with clipons.
