I have a Black 1100 Evo, and I just noticed the other day that I have a subtle scratch on the plastic bodywork (specifically, the grey striped part of the tank cover).  I suspect that it happened at the dealer during setup, but being that the bike has been in my possession for about two weeks, there is no way to tell for sure.

Is there anything that I can do to make the scratch less noticeable?  I've buffed-out scratches on my Black 4Runner, but since the Duc bodywork is plastic, I wasn't sure if there was anything that I could really do to fix it.  It's pretty minor, so I definitely didn't want to accidentally make it worse than it already is.

And just as a general question, what is the best way to care for the plastic bodywork (e.g., for cleaning, polishing, etc.)?

Thanks in advance,
Eric

I literally was going to write the exact same post.  Same circumstances.  Kind of annoyed as my bike is always garaged and usually covered, but oh well.  Hope you get some answers.

Thanks for the tip -- I do plan on getting a tank protector, but for the record, the scratch I'm referring to is up closer to the top of the tank (no way my gear caused it).

In any case, the reason for my post is to find out if there is anything that can be done to fix (or lessen the noticeably of) scratches on plastic bodywork.  And additionally, the best way to clean/care for plastic body work.

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.  Thx!

Swap it for carbon fiber Wink hhaha no but in all honesty for washing anything I do the double bucket system. And even do a presoak etc. look up the techniques and stuff online. Other than tank protectors that's it tbh. But even applying the tank peotectors isn't fun either.
