Fuel light has stopped working on the S4R (don't ask how I know). And after the first ride in a few weeks and possibly last in another few it was a little bit of a let down.

Anywho, the light works when it goes through it's start up ritual, so I'm guessing it's not the lamp, any ideas?

Mine worked once after I ran out of gas and not since. So if anyone knows how to fix that thing, I would like to know.

I never go by mine.

Fill it up, reset your trip ODO and fill up 40 miles to limit.

that's about when the light would come on anyway

bluestoesonnose

So how many miles is the limit?

Raux

you ran out didn't you ;)

did you happen to notice?

a quick search says 149mi is your dry point.

so fill up every 100 miles and your should be fine

bluestoesonnose

Yep ran out

Not owned the bike long, still getting used to it.

I don't / can't use the bike that much ATM so didn't know how much fuel it had in it so no, I don't know what the mileage is and I didn't notice

Thanks for the heads up, 140, not bad I guess

I'm on used Duc #2 and I've never had a working fuel light. I put the bike on the stand then fill it up. If it's upright and you fill it, if you don't use that quart or so, when you put it on the stand it'll seep out of the cap down the tank. Reset your tripometer and go ride. At 100 miles, fill it up and divide the 100 by the amount of gas and then you'll have a good idea of how far you can push your tank. Problem was when I got my S4R, I didn't know the tank was 3.9 gallons as opposed to my M900 tank that held 4.25. I promptly ran out of gas on the first tank.  ;D

Mine went bad on the S4 and I bought a low fuel light sender.  Cost me about 175.00 but I've walked my bike enough times to make sure I fill up every hundred miles or so just to be safe.
