Hi There,

Forks are off of a 1999 M750 Dark, so i believe they are the (non-adjustable) 40mm Marzocchi.

The seals are completely blown, springs shot and all the oil has leaked out onto the garage floor.  I was
going to call RaceTech for spring selection, but wanted to hear if there are any lower-cost options since
the forks aren't the greatest in the first place, they don't need to have top-notch springs in them; i'm trying
to do this without spending a ton of money.

Besides new seals, new dust covers, new oil and new springs - is there anything else that i should be
taking a look at while i have them apart?

This is my first fork-job and have never taken them apart, nor seen the insides of a set of forks.

Thank you for any help or suggestions you can offer :)

How many miles on the forks?

Are the sliders in good shape?
Many of that vintage are pitted, and rust quickly and then destroy the seals.

Hi Speeddog,

The forks have 49,000 miles on them; they've never been serviced or even looked at, but they are
completely shot and need maintenance.  i basically have no front suspension right now.

Strangely enough, the sliders are in relatively great shape.  They probably have some 'micro' pitting, but
nothing too bad.  There is zero rust on them and they look / feel smooth.

You'd have to call and ask Berg.

I'm thinking not in stock, although they could probably get them for you.

Are you planning on buying the special tools you'll need?

It might be cheaper to send them to Speeddog, or ducvet, and let them do the work.

You'll probably wish you had some other things too before you're done, but it sounds like you have a plan. [thumbsup]
