I have had the video of this ride in my hard drive for about 2 years, but this is the first time I've seen it with the driver commentary.

Hans Stuck is an amazing driver.  In this he's driving the BMW M3 GTR factory race car a few years ago.  It's a record lap of a legendary race course.  His commentary is accurate, enthusiastic and spot on.  You can almost imagine him yelling in your ear as if you are the driver [thumbsup]

Since the Nurburgring is also a moto destination, I thought I'd post this.  Maybe watching the car and hearing the commentary may help with a rider.???

Thanks tommys67.  Exceptional footage.  That M3 is much faster than the in car video I 've seen of a 917 from the late '70's early '80's.  (but those turbo Porsches sounded cooler!)

The old Nurburgring course is such an animal.  Kind of like trying to tame a lion.  ;D   And yes...Hans Stuck is a wise old lion tamer.   [thumbsup]

Even with the 30 odd years of automotive develpoment, I don't believe that this would be true. Add to that that I beleive you are referring to another Porsche as the 917 was finished racing in Europe in '72 and in the States in '74.

But, I agree that Stuck is a great driver (still).

Yeah...You're right.  8)   It was a 956 in the video I have....and Derek Bell was driving.  I called it a 917 mostly because ........ummm.........I'm an idiot?   ;D     ;D

You are also probably right about the speeds but somehow Stuck's lap seems waaaay faster.

Apparently at the time my video was shot Bell had done the 5th fastest lap time ever on the old course.
