Hi,

I'm interested in getting a leather jacket and wanted to find out what people think of the Ducati Historical Jacket? Quality and thickness of the leather. I plan on wearing armor underneath the jacket so built in armor isn't a requirement. Thanks in advance.

I believe the Historical Jacket is .8-.9mm thick leather. I have one and I might consider wearing it  but it would have to have serious Armor under it. I bought mine as a fashion leather jacket.  I much prefer leather jackets that are 1.2-1.4mm thick cowhide for the abrasion factor for riding.

You can by one of the lower priced Dainese leather Jackets that are 1.2-1.4mm of cow leather for about the same price as the Ducati Historical Jacket. If you like all the logos on the Histoical Jacket than I can see why you want that one or if you want a thinner leather Jacket I understand.

What is your attraction to the Historical Jacket ?

Double Eagle, I really want the Historical Jacket for the logos and looks. I don't mind paying $500 for a jacket but I'm looking for something similar to the historical jacket style. .9 is pretty thin... I wonder how that would hold up. Thanks for the info.

I can't really speak to the abrasion factor other than it would burn through alot quicker than 1.4mm. I don't know if there is a direct relationshhip mathmatically that can be applied. I just tend to play it safe and go w/ the thicker cow leather for riding . Icon Merc leather Jackets have alot of logos and have CE Shoulder and Elbow armor. I bought a few of those before I got into Dainese leather. They fit well and seemed to be made well . They come in American sizes . SandHills Motorsports.com had them at very good prices and different colors.
