This really sucks for the couple, that goes without saying. However, I'll be the devils advocate and say this is a good lesson in wearing the proper gear! The guy credits their helmets for saving their lives but based on the wifes face I'm guessing they were open face helmets? The injuries to his hands tell me he was'nt wearing gloves and it appears from the video you can see bare arms which mean no jacket, hence the rash on his arms. Rash on the legs = probably wearing jeans. Be safe out there, even cops can mow you down!

He was careful of the taxpayers patrol car, tho...... He kept checking it instead of the nasty bikers he took out.

The gear police strikes, how about we start with wishing them well? Frankly what happened to them was unnecessary and I feel terrible and wish them a speedy recovery. As for the Officer, my guess is he was playing on his computer or texting. It's amazing how many people I see texting these days

the difference in speed between the cruiser and the bike would lead me to not agree with that conclusion.....

actually, pointing out their gear IS a lesson here. Many people wear little to no gear because they are 'great riders' and won't have an accident.
This couple had NO CONTROL of what happened to them, but they could have had control of the severity of it, by wearing better gear.

something else curios here.
why were they going so slow? and was he not looking in his mirror or seeing this bright light quickly coming up on him?
I'm not blaming the couple IN ANY WAY, just wondering what they were thinking as well.
