-George Romero style zombies (slow footed, mostly nocturnal) Basically a full on zombie infestation at night, with around a 10-15% zombie presence during the day.

- Urban environment.

I would imagine you'd want a ton of low end torque because you'd be blasting around downtown and up/down alleys, etc. Top speed wouldn't be extremely essential however if you found yourself low on daylight and needed to get back to your bunker quickly, you'd def want it. You'd also prob want lots of space to carry lots of ammo.

Air or water cooled? 2v or 4? Carbed or injected?

Given the lack of proper maintenance facilities and replacement parts... a Honda.

BMW R1**0GS Adventure.

Well... you did say urban, and the big GS is a bit of a pig... so make it the F650GS Dakar.

Simple, low-maintenance, capable.

Or just get a Honda. Grin

I believe the question was "best ducati" for the zombie apocalypse.

I think a beat up diavel would be cool, maybe with some sort of cattle catcher projecting from the front forks.

On a related note I think Wesley snipes used an ST3 for vampire hunting in the "Blade" movies.

Although I love the ST bikes, I think the centre of gravity would be a little high for effective edged weapon execution while riding.

Well if it must be a Ducati:

http://www.strada-avventurosa.com/

I can't think of a better bike than a fully kitted out Multi 1100S.

Dear, sweet, merciful baby Jesus, there's sooooo much wrong with this thread.

First, Romero zombies are not nocturnal. They're zombies. They don't give a shit about sunlight. You're thinking of "I Am Legend."

Second, if it's a zombie apocalypse and you're in an urban area, you're either gonna be in a military/police/warlord quarantine zone, or you're gonna be a zombie snack.

Aside from that, if you REALLY want to hang out in downtown and ride your bike around, you're gonna want a few key things:

1) Quiet. No open clutch. No aftermarket exhaust. Forget your badass Termi system. You want that thing to sound like a sewing machine.

2) Fuel efficient. Refineries don't run themselves.

3) Reliability/ease of maintenance. You think parts take a long time to come from Italy now?

Things you don't need:

1) Farkles/bling/sweet mods.

2) Loud exhaust.

3) Gobs of low/mid/high end power. What are you gonna do? Smash a walker's head with the front wheel? Anything that still runs faster than a zombie can shamble will be plenty fast.

Answer: 696. Bottom of the line.

Reliable, efficient, quiet (stock), air cooled, minimum complexity, and it's already got a tank ding so it won't matter when you drop it.

Besides, with all the zombies around, no one will care that it doesn't have a full trellis frame.

Bukethead you are awesome!

Def a 1199 Panigale Superleggera because you are gonna want to kill yourself in a couple days anyways. And you will want to do it in style.
