There's relevant views in this thread but the one thing most people who live outside australia don't understand is our laid back, apathetic view of life, i'll probably offend a few by saying this but it's the few that understand and have already posted that fall outside the many, the "she'll be right mate" attitude of most aussies is what the politicians use against us, it's rare, very rare, that the public will band together and protest unless those members of the public are directly effected. The spin doctors have done a good job of convincing the average law abiding citizen that speeding is a capital offense, and wearing club colours is the equivalent of being an axe murderer, the mere fact the government is passing laws that seriously encroach on our way of life, removing our ability to associate with whomever we want lest we plot to assassinate one certain meglomaniacal narcissist is portrayed as paranoia by those who have something to hide.

What concerns me more than all of that though is the civil libertarians who are usually outraged and looking for vocal soundbites on the 6pm news whenever a real criminal (read rapist, sex offender etc) is mistreated or whatever are very conspicuous by their silence and lack of public outrage on this issue.

I guess it will take someones golf club to be raided before people with real clout get vocal, and that won't happen any time soon.....

I sold my harley because I was sick of being pulled over for nothing. This country is in trouble if these laws pass..no more than a group of 3 riders it's out of control. Is a blanket law to protect who?

That video doesn't show what, if anything, he may have done before the recording started. Five coppers don't just show up out of no where when you're at a servo, minding your own business. Doesn't help being belligerent when you're dealing with them either.

Having looked at his club's website, they also link to the websites of various OMCGs. If you're a social club, trying to avoid trouble, why associate yourself with those types?

I don't think these new association laws are good & I'm not arguing for them, but it's no secret that OMCGs are filled with criminals, and I have no issues with police targetting them. If you want to dress up and pretend to be a 1%er, don't be surprised when you're pulled over?

   Well if that's the case (OMCGs are filled with criminals) then they should be targetting the criminals, and the crimes they commit, not that they belong to a club.

Police have always targeted organised crime gangs, that's nothing new. And so they should.

That is seriously scary, and while all this has been passed where are the civil libertarians that are usually whining about peoples rights being ignored? people like sex offenders etc.

I hope anyone planning on protesting at the G20 summit reads that!
