I'm trying to settle an argument with the wife about how many motorcycles the average motorcycle rider in the US owns. I've googled around but can only find figures for the number of motorcycles registered, but not the number of motorcycle riders or motorcycle licenses issued (yeah people who ride dirt bikes don't need licenses, but let's exclude them for now). I've also googled motorcycle forums for responses to the question of "how many bikes do you own?" (btw, the average seems to be about 2 bikes/rider) but I want something with a larger sample size. Do you know of any stats by US Census or DOT?

If you can read between the lines, I'm using this to convince her that I need another bike.  Smiley

1... I've thought about getting a touring or cruiser type... but then I realize everything I ride for is done quite well with the M.

Well, I was going to hold this in reserve, but my little bro who FINALLY started riding almost two years ago now (when wife finally relented) was, when last I checked, up to TWENTY EIGHT, including seven registered daily riders and MOST of the rest are running.

The most I ever owned at once was 3.

I could deal with getting a sportbike again.
