I've got a neutral light?  Oh yeah I vaguely remember the last time that thing worked, 10 years ago  [clap]

What's this big case/small case 6 speed about?  I always figured it was just a cog, like on a bicycle.

For the OP, I've always intended to blow out the 750 motor and install a 900; problem is the 750s are virtually indestructible.  I've zinged it up to 9k rpms accidentally, several times.  Hooray false neutrals.  ZIIIINNNGGG!!! Oops.

Lol, I did that to my 750 a lot too. I flogged the piss out of that motor and it never let me down. Really wish I hadn't done the 900 swap and just put that $$$ towards a SF.

No, it's a totally different set of gears and shafts.

To the OP:  A big +1 to all that Brad Black has posted.

To the rest:  I think the sign of a purely screwed-up Ducatisti is someone with a BUILT 750 motor.  :-\

(I've got 1 BTW...)

I think it would be a fun project to take an worn out and cheap 750 and build it.  However, I then think about what the same amount of money on a 900 would turn into...

It would still be fun to build a 750.  Advanced cams, FCRs, high-comp pistons etc.

If only ducati had put out the 3 valve small case motor that they were experimenting with, I think that would allow the small case motor to make close to large case power.  Low compression ratio & small cams do make the 750 respond well to high compression pistons & cam swaps, but the parts are not any cheaper than they are for the bigger bikes.  Drop in high compression pistons & used 620 or 695/800 heads will wake a 750 up.

That is cool, I knew they found one of those, but did not realize they were selling it.  Punch that out to 800 + and that would be a great small case motor.  Now if only they will make 3 valve heads for the large case motors, or even better for the 1098/848 cases, 1400cc 3 valve air cooled anyone? Technical , specific info. Is whats lacking . Year model of heads ? (620,695,800) what the difference ,reason of preference ? For what i'd spend aquiring a decent 900 ,,,then spend after ,, makes more sense to work.with 750 . Just not sure of the interchange ,specs ect.   So anything helps ,, i'll be working on it for awhile . thanks

Brad Blacks website is a great resource for the differences in the heads & cams.

695 or  800 heads, AFAIK they're exactly the same.
Cams and valves are the same.

750 high-comp pistons.

Do a mock up assembly to check valve to piston clearance.

695 -or- 800 heads are best, *but* even the 620 heads are better breathing than the 750's and will bump power (including the above mentioned pistons) over a 750.

Just be sure to get the entire head w/cams, valves & everything when you do the head swap.

900 carb motor with v stamp heads.  as late a year as possible, or low km.  or 900ssie motor, not m, with an ignitech for ignition.
