I'll be pondering that awhile..
There was actually so much in that.
Certainly confirms the need for organisational change at Ducati, which supports Gigi's shake up.
Interesting comment about Rossi in the twilight of his career and recognizing he is not quite at the same level, and still enjoying racing, but not riding with the same risk..
The Weed inexplicably unable to capitalize.
Ducati engine too powerful for the chassis!

that one had me wondering if he had been feeding Yamaha at all any ideas on how to capitolize on power delivery ideas to compete with the Honda from the italian camp, since it has never been denied that the Duc has the most potent motor.

While their opponents have evolved one style of chassis they have a long corporate history with, Ducati abandoned the style of chassis they understood and have since attempted to develop two more styles of chassis. This set them back to start from scratch each time, giving their opponents a huge advantage. They should have evolved what they had according to their corporate knowledge.
Bring back the trellis!
Mind you, Gigi hasn't called me yet..

What I've heard about the trellis is that at MotoGP levels of stress, the amt of reinforcement it needs requires so many welds/tubes that it takes up a huge amount of space that could be use for other parts (e.g. airbox volume) as well as how inconsistent the bike can feel from one to the next. Welding in general just will never be as accurate in replication as casting/machining.
So they could develop a new trellis frame... but they would need to find a way to fix the space/inconsistency issues.

Trellis was already gone quite a while before Rossi showed up. He & Burgess got them to drop the frameless concept.

the inconsistancy wasn't in the welds, but in the amount of flex that was transmitted from 1 frame to another...

did that need (further) confirmation? everyone who was not ducati knew this in 2008.

The trellis flexed (especially under braking), but it talked to the rider, and flexed in the corners. It had packaging issues, but was tunable and they understood it well. Might have affected intake/airbox design, but they had plenty of power.
The CF frameless design was too ridgid and gave the rider the silent treatment, then out of nowhere, slap! CF dampens quite well.
The alloy beam frame was the competitions technology. They should not have tried it without headhunting some opposition engineers, but Ducati Corse were arrogant. "Shouldnt be hard, what could possibly go wrong".
Bring back the trellis Giggi!
