So as the title says, I took my S2R1K in for valve checks last week and the mechanic mentioned that he was seeing faults that in his experience indicated that the regulator was going to die. Is this possible? Not the regulator dying but that it gives warnings? I don't know if it's related, but the bike has been stalling every once in a while out of the blue, mostly while coming to a stop. It fires right up, but it is a new development that I'm not all that happy with.
Thoughts?

Low volts dont help on Ducati efi systems ,, but main culprit for poor low running is TPS out of alignment followed  by low volts , ,battery ?  then bad charging ,,, check the connectors from Alternator to regulator they usually corrode and burn out before the regulator dies ,, if they look melted or burned  , cut them out and wire direct with crimps ot solder.

Thanks for the reply, I plan on taking a look at things in the morning. Did 350 miles today with no issues. What is a TPS? Throttle Position Sensor? Where  might one find that? I am guessing in the switchgear somewhere?

As jerryz said, low charging system output can cause running problems.  Is your regulator dying?  Dunno.  No real info.  What faults is the mechanic seeing?  Sounds more likely to me like he is covering his ass.  TPS is throttle position sensor.  Yours is not adjustable, but set by diagnostic software.

Good information. That's sort of what I was wondering, if the guy was trying get more money  out of me from the dealership or if it was possible that he was seeing indicators. He didn't say what errors he was seeing, in the paperwork he has written "Faults show generic Reg going out type stuff. Suggest repla about it.cement". That's all the information I have

The rectifier regulator doesn't slowly degrade. It either works or it doesn't. I think your mechanic is having you on.

You'll have trouble starting a long time before there's problems with idle. I'd check the ground connections, plugs, tps etc.
