Just got back last night from a three day ride through the mountains and along the Pacific Coast Highway.  Pretty much in a t-shirt and vented leathers!  To top off the remarkable weather there was an absolute lack of LEO presence on PCH from Ft. Ross to San Simeon.

This in itself is remarkable however, toss in a near absolute lack of traffic and only one motor home and it is safe to say I just had the best couple of days of riding the coast in 30 years!  I was running 20 minutes at a time without having to pass people and those I wanted to pass all seemed to be riders, as people just got out of the way.

Incredible weather, riding as fast as conditions would allow and no scary moments, Life is good.

BTW spotted a red 1198, at ragged point, rider in all white leathers.

[Sigh] I miss Cali.

I was on PCH once in my Saab and it was absolutely perfect weather during off-season.  Guy was in a red convertible roadster---maybe an MG?---and just going up and down, up and down, the PCH north of San Simeon at that super windy section with high cliffs.  He must of passed me 3 times and swung back 3 more times, and each time his smile got bigger and bigger.

This was in the days before I rode.  Can't imagine how much fun that would be on 2 wheels, though with only 2yrs/ 6000 mi experience under my belt, those sharp turns and high cliffs would have me gentle on the throttle.

Ugh, very jealous.  I would be a damn Popsicle if I tried to ride right now.

The weather has definitely been gorgeous!!

My son couldn't go to his regular school this past week due to Red Flag conditions.  The alternate campus was on PCH in Laguna Beach.  I picked him up and we hung out at the beach everyday.  Wish I could be riding too but can't beat the quality time Bone and I have been spending together.   waytogo

Yeah PCH was awesome.  I am getting ready to head out to the local mountains for a play day.  Even the Sierra foothills are nice right now.

Haha, me too.

Likely I'll be Mtn bound. Even though I'm minutes from the water.

Coming down from Palomar in the '80s.

Turned around at the bottom and on the way back up the front tire hit some sand or something, washed out, and I totaled the red K100.

Sounds like a great ride. It was -14 degrees Fahrenheit at my house this morning.

...(snip)...

What's funny about this is that, with the current hipster trends of riding old bikes and of using instagram filters on everything, if NorDog didn't say it was 80s, I wouldn't be able to tell if this is from the 30 years ago or Brooklyn/Silverlake today!  Grin

HA!  That's funny. I hadn't thought about that, but you're right.

I enjoyed watching that! Cheers! Looks like you know that ride well. Dolph

What camera were you using? GoPro? Where was it mounted? I'm still working out where to mount mine.
